Tyrrell - Francois Cevert - 1973 - Replica helmet with display case
1973 François Cevert (used look) helmet in display case
François Cevert was a very talented French racing driver who took part in the F1 in the seventies. He competed in 48 World Championship Grands Prix, achieving one win, 13 podium finishes and 89 career points. His racing carreer started with motorcycles until he switched to cars, In 1968 he won the French Formula 3 Championship, a year later Cevert joined the works Tecno Formula Two team in 1969 and finished third overall. When Johnny Servoz-Gavin suddenly retired from the Tyrrell Formula One team three races into the 1970 season, Tyrrell asked Cevert to be his number two driver, alongside defending World Champion Stewart. The junior driver to Jackie Stewart on the Elf Tyrrell Ford team, Cevert was one of the most charismatic competitors on the grid. Over the next four seasons, Cevert became Stewart's devoted protégé and friend.
Until 6 of october 1973, in a qualifying lap at the Watkins Glen, Cevert’s Elf Tyrrell Ford had a out of balance moment, and it touched with one wheel on a curb, Cevert could not correct it and lost control of his car fatally crashing it, François Cevert died at the age of 29.
The death of his beloved teammate hit Stewart hard, so hard that he never competed in Formula 1 again. The three-time World Champion went on to make probably his most important contribution to motorsport: the quest to make F1 safer. From that day he would campaign for safer cars, better medical facilities, and track improvements at motor racing circuits. “I’ve been through this before,” Stewart said on the day Cevert died “Too many times before.”
Here we offer a very nice ‘heavily used’ François Cevert 1973 replica helmet to honour this fantastic and iconic driver. This great vintage Shoei helmet is painted perfectly and has the used look that Cevert’s helmets also had, he kept the impacts of dirt and stones on the helmet which it gave a heavy raw and used look. The helmet has the colours of the French flag in stripes and “F. Cevert” painted on the sides the dark visor and the sun visor that Cevert used. The helmet comes in a display case with Cevert photo. The Helmet has all the correct tagging such as a Snell (so the helmet is approved for professional car sports such a Formula One). This great ‘used look’ helmet will make a fantastic display piece to any motorsport collection.
